Farm name
Rah Rabbitry ~ Mini Lops in BC, Canada
About the rabbitry
Rah Rabbitry originated midway through the year 2000. The name came from a mix of Egyptian titles and Watership Down, an excellent book for any rabbit lover. On September 30th, 2000 with the help of Karin Vail, Rah Rabbitry purchased its first purebred, pedigreed rabbit: Preston's Nice Girl (AKA Lace or Lady), a dilute orange/false lynx. From there, Mini Lops were played with in small numbers. When a shed/barn was fixed up for the rabbits, wallets were lightened and paintbrushes were used, until we have the barn that is in existance today, known for its cleanliness and awesome view of the evergreens. May 13, 2003 after a long fascination with the breed on her fathers part, aswell as previous interest, a very hot black junior show buck was purchased by the inexpensive charity of Jean Harris. Thus a second breed started, with a side rabbitry called Daddio's Dutch. Harris' Xavier came to roust at Rah Rabbitry with 5 Jr. legs to his name. He was a buck unlike any other, with the personality of the best Mini Lop. His son Daddio's Horrid went on to win a leg of 10 Jr bucks, making the barn very proud. After Fall '05 and the untimely passing of Xavier, who was the main reason & motivation for the second breed, Rah Rabbity returned to solely Mini Lops.
About me
I've been in Mini Lops since I was 14, however I've had rabbits consistantly my entire life from the age of 3 (consisting of dwarfs, dutch, and mixed breeds), with the "rabbit virus" originally being instigated by my Morfor/Danish Grandfather. Morfor bred Bourgogne show rabbits in Denmark previous to World War II. Living vivariously through me, his passion was reborn and carries on to this day. Outside of rabbits, I love theatre (acting or being crew), photography, reading fiction, and fishkeeping. For my 19th birthday I got a used 65 tall gallon tank, which currently houses 5 Angels that I raised from 3 months old. It used to be 12, but as they aged, I sold them, and they've payed me back their original price many times fold already. I am trained as a Companion Dog trainer and have my certification. I live on the junction of two towns, a small retirementville seaside tourism strip and a 2 million resident city. If you'd like to see my photography, click here (some of it is PG 13+): I have traveled to Alberta (Edmonton & Calgary), Alaska (Juneau), Washington (Mt. Vernon, Monroe, Hamilton, and Yakima), Hawaii (North-central Oahu and Waikiki, Oahu), California (LA), Arizona (Yuma), New Mexico, Denmark (all over), Swedan, and Germany. Next stop: Scotland, Aussie, and New Zealand... hopefully the US Virgin Islands with Jess of J&T Rabbits!
