End of the Beginning!
But I am selling most of my rabbits, the ones I have left being the sweetest of the bunch or my favorite breeding does/bucks.
It is a bittersweet time. I had, at most, 25 rabbits at one time. Now I have 8. There is a lot less work, the rabbits get more time with me, and I enjoy being in an uncluttered barn! However, I miss the babies. Watching them develop at super fast speeds, figuring out the world, watching their bodies and minds develop... it was one of my favorite things to witness. On the plus side, I also don't have to witness the sad side of having baby rabbits around, the stillborns or the faders, they broke my heart everytime. However, their counterparts made it worth it to continue breeding.
The Oranges Are Here!
And the waiting game continues
I keep thinking that my foot is going to get better and I can get back to normal. For those of you that don't know I shattered my heel in July and nothing's been the same since. I thought on Oct 20th I was going to be able to walk again, but found out today that weight bearing doesn't mean walking! It's probably going to be the ned of the year before I'm "walking" like normal.
It so nerve racking, not being able to just get up and do the things that need to be done. My mom is living with us and she and my boys do not see eye to eye on things. There is always something wrong or someone upset. The pressure is just so hard. Plus I haven't been able to do much with my rabbits. My oldest son helped me this past weekend to get some pictures taken and some does bred. My mom and son go to the barn on the weekdays to feed and water and everyday the come back not talking. My mom likes to get there and get it done, whereas my son prefers to go around and play with all his rabbits first before he very slowly gets the chores done.

FAIR TIME!
Question: Adding content to book pages...
hurry up and wait......
Not much going on here. i went through a litter of satins yesterday i think they are around 6-7 weeks, didnt look really. some nice looking babies tho. too bad not a one of them is a RECOGNIZED color.....*sigh* oh well. puzzle pieces puzzle pieces puzzle pieces.....
The open class rabbit show at the fair starts on saturday morning. had to borrow some carriers so i can get them all there in one trip. hopefully coming home wont be so cramped. planning to sell a bunch! i need some empty cages!!
We are only there for 3 days (come home monday night). so it should be pretty easy on the bunnies. watched the weather reports this morning. and should be in the low to mid 80's over the weekend. so it will warm up but not be scorching either. yay!
Need Room to Grow!!!
So, yes, I want to repeat some of those breedings. I lost my beloved Maybelline who was going to be my little "Revlon the 2nd". She was a gorgeous lynx doe.
Reboot Part 2: The Bunny Sitter is Less than Ideal
I found out today the bunny & house sitter will be a guy that knows next to nothing about rabbits.
Great.
This is going to mean a LOT of post its, bright colours, and signs all over my barn.
And to be on the safe side...
"NO TREATS"
"NO VISITORS"
"NO PETTING"
"NO EXTRA FOOD"
And... a return of a sign I printed for shows:
"Please do not feed fingers to rabbits!"
Gaaaah...

Visual editing for the site
I have enabled the TinyMCE editor for all text areas on the site.
This theoretically will make things easier for you all to enter. Please let me know if anyone has any problems.
EDIT: --->Will, what does the "p" stand for in your html? --Jenn/Pasada
FINALLY, my birthday party!
My best friend is coming over for a sleep over tonight. We will be going to a concert with my family, and tomorrow going to a tea room (http://www.tealaceandroses.com/) with my mom. My newest litter of NDs is doing great! (http://www.rabbitsontheweb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5778) Me
The Slow Reboot
(I'm going to be testing HTML while doing this blog, so please excuse any weird letters)
I haven't been active in the rabbit world for over a year, trying to force myself out of it... not too efficiently, I might add. I was losing my interest, without goals. I needed specific goals instead of just following the herd! So I looked at my animals... I had been barely trying to get BEWs. And then I thought... whatever happened to creating BEWs? That is what I shall doe! Chocolates and BEWs!
My doe Queenie is due soon. Queenie (AKA Rah's Queen Elizabeth II, her dam being nicknamed Elizabeth by a barn-helper... and Queenie was her dams twin likeness sooo... yeah :D) was bred before I went on vacation, on August 2nd. When I got back on August 15th, I palpated 3-4 kits.
This is Queenie's first litter. Queenie is very near and dear to my heart, I am hoping all goes well.
She has gotten a bit antsy, we're now in Week 3 of pregnancy. She's tipping over his crock for the first time and drinking more. She won't come up for petting as much as usual. It's stressful for me and her!
I found out too late that our plans changed for dropping my brother off at University for the fall. Before, we would be back in the afternoon of the 1st. Now, it's the 2nd. Her Day 30 is Sept 1st, her Day 31 is Sept 2nd... so I'm worried I won't be here incase something happens. Queenie is a first time doe.
My nearest trusted rabbit friend lives 20 minutes away and works fulltime. The best I can do is prep a nestbox before I go and leave it all in the hands of someone that only knows how to feed and water rabbits... very stressful!!
On another note, I've almost completed my Fall Cleaning... early! I just have to pressure wash my nestboxes, show carriers, and two stackers (& the floor beneath them & the walls behinds them). Then I'm DONE bwahaha!!
And yeah. That only leaves me with raking the roof of the pine needles, but I don't REALLY need to do that, do I? Noo.. it's enough that I already cleaned the 5'x3' sliding glass window? haha :D
Why did I paint the walls white again? I know they bounce light better, but MAN. Does anyone know how badly urine stains white walls? Bleach isn't working! What works better than bleach? Maybe vinegar???

Sad News
A dear friend of the family passed today. We have known Betty for 20 years. She was one of the first friends we made when we moved upstate. We used to travel to rabbit shows together. Her daughter and mine were great friends and still are. They were the backbone of our 4H rabbit club. Betty will certainly be missed she was one of the most helpful and friendly people I have ever known. I didn't want to bring anyone down, I just had to get it out. The funeral is this sunday. I will write again when I have something more cheerful to say.
happenings in my barn
well today i went out and tattooed a bunch of havanas. had to put together an entry for our fair. bringing i think 24 havanas and 10 satins.
I have loaded tinyMCE onto the site
This is pretty cool.
It really lets me have a lot of flexibility for people
When they add entries.
- better formatting
- easier entry
- more rabbitness.
